CHS Athletics looks to continue to improve the student athlete experience through partnership with PCA
As part of a targeted effort to provide the most
positive experience for its athletes, Canton High School has established a partnership with
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). PCA, a
Stanford University-based non-profit organization, works with coaches,
organizational leaders and parents to more effectively teach young athletes not
only how to win, but also how to learn about teamwork, discipline, respect and
goal-setting through their sports experience.
The partnership is sponsored by the CHS Athletic Booster Club who supports the CHS Athletic Department in our goal of continuing to improve the student athlete experience here at CHS.
“Many
people think that misbehavior in youth sports is like the weather," said
Jim Thompson, founder and director of Positive Coaching Alliance. "You can complain about it but you
can't do anything about it. Working with
hundreds of youth sports organizations and schools around the United States, we
know you can change youth sports, and
we've developed many practical tools and guidelines to do just that. We’re excited that Canton High School recognizes the tremendous potential sports participation offers for
today’s youth and is stepping up to realize that potential through their
athletic programs.”
Coach,
parent and player misbehavior in youth sports has become national news. Canton High School sees its partnership with PCA as a key
step in preventing such incidents; developing clear, positive expectations for
its players, fans and coaches; and thus helping promote
the school’s core values & behaviors. CHS Athletic Director Danny Erickson explained that, "the CHS Athletic Department is guided by our school's core values of:
- Continuous Improvement
- Academic Excellence and Rigor
- Respectful and Responsible Relationships
- Inclusive Community
"Our new relationship with PCA will help us all navigate the complex situations encountered during the high school athletic journey," continued Erickson. "This relationship will help us continue to strengthen the correlation between our practice and our core values."
The partnership includes 3 workshops annually. The first two workshops were held this fall at CHS- one for captains and one for coaches. The 3rd workshop for this academic year will be held on Monday, January 12th from 6:30-7:30 in the CHS Auditorium. This workshop will be targeted at our freshmen athletes and it will be required for them to attend.
About Positive Coaching Alliance
Founded as a non-profit within the Stanford
University Athletic Department in 1998, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is
committed to providing all youth and high school athletes a positive,
character-building youth sports experience. To that end, PCA has conducted
more than 10,000 live group workshops nationwide for more than 675,000 youth
and high school sports coaches, parents, student-athletes and
school/organizational leaders. Through workshops and companion online courses,
PCA has impacted more than 4.5 million youth.
PCA’s partnership network includes more than 1,700 youth sports organizations, cities and schools. In 2012, PCA will conduct roughly 1,200 live, group workshops across the U.S., while assisting tens of thousands of other individuals via online courses at www.PositiveCoach.org.
PCA
workshops and courses strive to establish these prevailing models in youth and
high school sports:
·
The Double-Goal
Coach®, whose first goal is winning, and whose second,
more-important goal is teaching life lessons through sports
·
The Second-Goal
Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons, while letting coaches
and athletes focus on competing
·
The Triple-Impact
Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by
improving oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.
PCA has the support of elite coaches and athletes
on a National
Advisory Board, including National Spokesperson and 11-time NBA Champion
Coach Phil Jackson.
Callahan named Varsity Softball Coach
Bulldog nation is happy to announce the recent hiring of Tracy Callahan as our new Head Varsity Softball coach effective immediately.
Callahan, a 1999 graduate of Canton High School, currently teaches at the Galvin Middle School. Back in her playing days at CHS, she was two-sport standout. As captain of both the field hockey team and the softball team, she made a major impact on both programs, playing at the varsity level of both all four years. Softball was where she received the most accolades, earning both the Hockomock MVP award and being honored as a Boston Globe All-Scholastic. After her successful Bulldog career, she moved on to play collegiate softball at St. Anselm College in Goffstown, NH where she graduated in 2003.
"I am beyond thrilled to begin coaching at Canton High School," Callahan shared. "I can't wait to get started!"
Callahan takes over a program looking to grow with the support of the local Little League softball program. Good things are in the future for CHS Softball.

Marcotti and Amico take the reigns
There will be two new varsity coaches leading our Bulldog winter programs this season as our Gymnastics and Indoor Track teams have new head coaches.
The Indoor Track program will be headed up by former assistant indoor/outdoor track and assistant volleyball coach Anna Amico. Amico is a 2011 CHS graduate. She takes over for Dan Ashman, who led the track program for the past several seasons before accepting a teaching position in central Mass.. Amico brings a passion and energy to the position that will most certainly lead to success.
The Gymnastics program will now be in the hands of Juliette Marcotti- Stoughton High School class of 2011. Marcotti is a coach at Metro-South Gymnastics, the home gym of the Bulldogs. She brings a wealth of gymnastics coaching experience to the position. She takes the reigns from Carla King- the recently retired, long-serving Bulldogs Gymnastics coach.
Bulldog Nation welcomes both coach Amico and coach Marcotti and wishes them well!

Girls Soccer Advances....Boys fall in PK's
Both the Girls and Boys Soccer teams forced their first round games to OT. The Girls team prevailed as Tessa Cudmore buried a rebound off of a Hailee Duserick shot from distance to down Dartmouth, 1-0 just 4 minutes into sudden death OT.
The Boys team battled hard throughout regulation and 2 full OT periods tied 1-1- before heading to decide who would advance on a Penalty Shootout. The defending D2 South Walpole Rebels scored on all 5 of their shots while the Bulldogs only managed 4. Freshman Jake Verille scored Canton's goal in regulation.
Both the Girls and Boys goalkeepers played incredibly well on the day- Kathryn Doody and Aidan Carr.
The Girls Advance to the South Sectional Quarter-Finals where they will face top-seeded and unbeaten Hingham on Thursday night at 6:30 at Hingham.

Volleyball advances....Field Hockey goes down fighting....Soccer set for tonight
The Volleyball team had a convincing 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-11) win at home over Milton to open up their 2014 tournament campaign last night. Olivia Devoe had a spectacular night (7 kills and 9 digs and great overall play). Erin Proctor had 24 assists (adding to that career 1,000+ total). Elizabeth Hamilton, Chidera Nwankwo, Sarah Reissfelder and Julia Mackie combined for 23 kills. Danelle Arthur played well defensively.
The #2 seeded Bulldogs will host #3 seeded Hopkinton on Wednesday night at 7:00 in the Sectional Semi-Final round---- a rematch of last year's match. Admission- $7- Adults.....$5- Students. No Bulldog passes accepted.
The Field Hockey team played exceptionally well for the 2nd straight tourney game, but it was not enough to over-take the regular season Davenport Champion Oliver Ames Tigers, as their season came to an end in a 2-1 defeat. The #10 seeded Bulldogs gave the #2 seeded Tigers all they could handle, especially in a flurry of activity around the OA goal in the closing minutes of the game, but Canton could not find the back of the cage. The Canton goal earlier in the game came very late in the first half when Mary McNeil found Lindsey Nolte off of a corner and Nolte burried it.
The Bulldogs have nothing to be disappointed about. They finish their 2014 season with an impressive 14-5-2 record and having played some exceptional field hockey!
Both the Girls and Boys Soccer Teams will see their first tourney action tonight.

The CHS Field Hockey team defeated Dartmouth on Thursday evening at CHS, 3-0 in a D1 preliminary round match. The 'dogs came out flying from the start, finding the back of the Indian goal twice in the first 15 minutes. Colleen Phelan struck first followed by a great goal by Masha Smirnova. Highlights of the week- 10/20-10/25/14
Cat Song finishes 2nd at Hock XC Championships- Many great performances were put in by Bulldog runners at the Hockomock Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Wrentham Development Center but standing out above all others was the remarkable run by junior Cat Song who finished 2nd overall in the girls' race. This race features some of the best talent in the state and is an amazing accomplishment for this talented Bulldog.
A pair of shutout wins has Field Hockey peaking at right time- A 2-0 win at Stoughton on Monday was followed up by another 2-0 road win at powerful Westwood on Friday, putting the Field Hockey team in a very strong position moving into senior night vs. Sharon tonight and the upcoming State Tournament later this week. Goal scorers on the week were Caroline Hagan, Mary McNeil, Lindsey Nolte, and Marsha Smirnova. Taylor Carrington had the shutout in the cage against Stoughton and Abbey Mitcherony net-minded in Westwood.
Girls Soccer qualifies for State Tourney with two Davenport wins- The Girls Soccer team appears to be playing some great soccer in late October and it was rewarded this week when two shutout wins led to the squad qualifying for the State Tournament. Tuesday saw the squad earn a 3-0 win over Milford and Friday a 2-0 win over Stoughton. Goal scorers on the week were Sarah MacQuarrie (2), Meg Hunter, Hailee Duserick, and Riley Duserick.
Boys Soccer qualifies for State Tourney- A resilient Boys Soccer team punched its ticket to the post-season with a 4-2 road win over Milford on Tuesday behind goals by Bart O'Brien (2), Jake Verille, and Damian Kozak. The team dropped a road game on Friday at the hands of Stoughton, 2-0.
Volleyball keeps the wins coming- Two convincing Davenport wins over Stoughton, 3-0 (25-10, 25-19, 25-15 and Sharon, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-7). Playing great in the wins were Erin Proctor, Julia Mackie, Erika Lum, Julia Panico, Kaitlin McCarthy, Emma Gobbi and Nicole Poole. The squad remains firmly in the Boston Globe Top 20 poll.
Heartbreaking loss in final minutes of game leaves football without playoff spot- The Football team played some great football on Friday night but was unable to hang on against a surging Oliver Ames team in the 4th quarter, ultimately falling 22-21 when OA converted a 2-point conversion with just under 2 minutes remaining. Many Bulldogs played great in the loss, but the combination of Brian Hagan to Derrick Harris provided the two biggest Bulldog highlights of the game. Two great passes and two acrobatic catches.

Week in Review- October 6-11, 2014
Volleyball Volleys for Molly and keeps the wins coming-
The Volleyball team remained undefeated this week, earning 3 big wins while also raising money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer with their annual Volley for Molly. Wins over Franklin on Monday (3-0...25-23, 25-18 and 25-15), Taunton on Wednesday (3-2...25-12, 20-25, 25-7, 19-25, 15-10) and Foxboro on Friday (3-0...25-12, 25-10, 25-23). Chidera Nwankwo had a huge week with 14 blocks and 32 kills. Other great performances were put in by Erin Proctor, Sarah Reissfelder, Ariana Sanusi, and Julia Mackie.
The team remains firmly in the Boston Globe's Top 20 Rankings.
Friday's match with Foxboro also featured a fundraiser/awareness event for Ovarian Cancer in the annual Volley for Molly. The team worked hard and raised over $500 for the cause! Great job girls!
Football team plays great but falls in heartbreaking fashion-
At no point during the entire game did the Black Knights have a lead over the Bulldogs at CHS on Friday night...other than when the clock read 0:00 in the 4th quarter. After a strong performance that saw the 'dogs take a 19-7 lead into halftime and hold a 25-22 lead with the ball deep in Black Knight territory with less than a minute to play, the unthinkable happened and the visitors put together a 70+ yard drive with no time outs, culminating in a touchdown pass with no time left on the clock.
The 28-25 final score devastated Bulldog fans who had been treated to a great offensive performance by the Green and White. The combination of Brian Hagan to Derrick Harris was unbelievable on the day, repeatedly connecting on great passes and catches. Anthony Ross made two HUGE catches over the middle in key moments of key drives. It was an overall phenomenal Bulldog performance.
The team will look to rebound as they travel to Foxboro on Friday night at 7:00pm.
Golf Team enjoys winning week-
The Golf team earned two big wins over the top two teams in the Kelley-Rex division, 159-170 over Franklin and 155-168 over Mansfield. The Panthers and Hornets had a combined record of 18-5 coming into their matches with the Bulldogs. Brian Halloran led the way in both wins (39 and 37). Luke Thompson matched Halloran in the Franklin win also posting a 39 while Steve Gorham matched him in the Mansfield match with a 37.
The team also finished 5th in the Hock Championship meet.
Franklin tops Boys & Girls Soccer and Field Hockey early in week but all three bounce back-
Field Hockey earned a big 2-1 win over Taunton Wednesday and followed it up with a 3-0 win over Foxboro on Friday. Wednesday's road win at Taunton was paced by goals by Lindsey Nolte and Caroline Hagan.
After being shut out on Monday against Franklin, the Boys Soccer team came back with a vengeance, scoring 7 goals in wins over Taunton and Norwood. Damian Kozak scored 6 of those goals and moved into a tie for 4th place on the Bulldog all-time goal scoring list. Bart O'Brien assisted on 3 goals this week.
The Girls Soccer team earned two big shutout wins this week, 2-0 over Taunton and 2-0 over Norwood. Hailee Duserick scored some big goals in the wins. Kathryn Doody earned both shutouts in net.
Cross Country teams run well in losses to Foxboro-

Student Athlete/Parent Presentation- September 11th
The CHS Athletic Department is excited to announce formally, an important presentation taking place on Thursday, September 11th at 6:30pm in the CHS Auditorium. Attendance at this presentation is mandatory for any CHS student who is interested in participating in a sport at CHS this school year. It is requested that at least one parent attend as well.
This year's presentation will be highlighted by a visit by Kathi and Chris Sullivan. The Sullivans have both suffered tragedy and loss associated with substance abuse. Kathi lost her 17 year old daughter Taylor in a tragic drinking incident during her senior year at King Phillip Regional High School. Chris's NFL career came to an end as a result of substance abuse. Their combined message is incredibly powerful. We think it is important for both our student athletes and their parents to hear. (see link below)
We will also briefly review some new initiatives and new policies which impact student athletes at CHS this school year.
Please arrive early to be sure that we can get everyone checked in and seated so we can get our program started on time.
Any student athlete who is unable to attend, must notify the athletic office prior to the 11th.
A special thanks goes out to the CHS Athletic Booster Club and to the Canton Cooperative Bank for sponsoring our speakers that night. Without their work and generosity, programs like this would not be possible.
We are very excited to share this program with the Bulldog Community. See you on Thursday!

Back to school....and a new attendance rule
Welcome back to all CHS students! It's a great day to be a teacher or student! Lot's of energy in the building (and a lot of heat).
As we start school today, it is important to make all students and parents aware of a new policy which went into effect today.
As you know, a student must be in school in order to participate that afternoon in athletics. In the past, the threshold for when a student must be in by was 10:30 am. That has been pushed up to 8:16am. So- from this point forth, any student who arrives at CHS for the school day AFTER 8:16 am, will NOT be allowed to participate in athletic practices or games that day.
There are still exceptions to this rule. If a student has a doctor's appointment or other type of appointment that cannot be avoided, and makes every effort to get to as much of the school day as possible, she will be eligible if she provides a doctor's note (or other) when she arrives at school.
Any absence longer than a couple of hours needs to be cleared IN ADVANCE in the athletic office to ensure eligibility on that day.
This rule sets a higher standard for CHS students.
Please see exact language below:

No athlete may
participate in any way with his/her team (this includes attending
practice/game) on any day in which he/she is
absent from school. A student who is not
in attendance for AT LEAST the final five periods of the day, is not eligible
to participate on that day. Students who leave school during the
day and who do not return are also not eligible that day. Game forfeitures and/
or suspensions may result from violation of this attendance policy.
NOTE: Student-athletes
are reminded that Canton High School is an academic institution and that a full
day of classes is expected of all students. If it is believed that
student-athletes are abusing the “Final Five Period Rule,” coaches and
administrators may deem them ineligible.
EXCEPTION:
Permission to participate on these days may be granted by the AD/Principal in
some excused cases (funeral, verified college
visit, court obligations, etc) when requested and granted in advance.

Bill and Billy Cravens honored at Football Scrimmage
Friday was an emotional but joyful night at WWII Veteran's Memorial Field as CHS honored the memory of both Bill and Billy Cravens in two special ceremonies.
Bill and his son Billy both passed away this past winter/spring- Dad- after a battle with cancer and Son-after a battle with ALS. The losses were felt across Bulldog nation but also brought the community together. Bill was the most committed of all CHS Athletic fans- attending hundreds of contests annually. Billy was a phenomenal football player for the 'dogs in the 70s and dedicated his professional life to giving back to the town's young athletes.
Last night saw Bulldog Nation come together to honor their memories in two very appropriate ways.
A chair has been permanently installed in the bleachers at the field to forever memorialize the decades of support that Bill Cravens showed to our student-athletes.
Immediately following the unveiling of the chair, attention shifted to the track and field where more than 100 Bulldogs gathered to participate in a mass Ice Bucket Challenge to strike out ALS in memory of Billy Cravens. With the football team readying to play their game in memory of Cravens, lining the rest of the fall athletes, a 10 second countdown led to the mass dumping of ice water. It was a wonderful tribute to Cravens.
The Bulldogs have challenged the rest of the Hock schools to do the same to help strike out ALS!

Highlights of the Week- 4/21-4/26/14
Vacation week brought a lighter than usual schedule but each of our teams, with the exception of track, had at least one contest.
Girls LAX keeps train rolling- The Girls Lacrosse team kept the offense going during vacation week racking up two more wins while extending their season-long unbeaten streak to 8 games. The girls hosted North Attleboro on Tuesday and earned a convincing 13-6 victory. Goaltender Katherine Doody was phenomenal in the Bulldog cage. Thursday, the team showed they could bend but would not break as they allowed a dozen Norwood goals, but were more than up for the task, outscoring the Mustangs 17-12. Leading the Bulldog scoring attack on the week were Mary McNeil, (7), Sam Sullivan (6), Erin Proctor (6) and Mary Nee (4).
Baseball stays in the hunt- A win and a loss this week kept the baseball team at 4-4 on the season and in the hunt in the Hockomock Davenport. The team put in perhaps its finest performance of the season on Thursday at home vs. Foxboro, defeating the Warriors, 8-2. Sophomore Griffin Jerrier pitched a complete game and only gave up one earned run on two hits while striking out six. Kevin Powers was 2-4 with 3 RBI's while Pat Vartanian was also 2-4 with 2 big singles and 2 runs scored. Earlier in the week, the squad lost a heart-breaker to Dedham, heading into the final inning up 1-0 on a strong pitching performance by Sam Larson, only to surrender 3 in the 7th and fall 3-1.
Tennis teams both get edged by Foxboro- In a one match week the Bulldog Tennis teams had their sights set on Foxboro, and despite some excellent performances, both the Boys and Girls teams were edged by the Warriors, 3-2. Winning for the Boys were Dillon Wong and Peter Hartfiel at first doubles and Chris Sullivan and Evan MacDonald at second doubles. On the Girls' side, Erica Nannery remained unbeaten on the year and the second doubles team of Pranathi Ganni and Cristina Guccione were able to pull out a big win as well.
Wins eluded both the Softball and Boys Lacrosse teams this week but both look to bounce back to winning ways this week. Playing well for the Boys LAX team in the two losses were Paul Swart, Matt Bagley and Quinn Merrigan.

Highlights of the Week- 4/13-4/17/14
Sunday saw the Bulldog community converge on the Luce Elementary School to dedicate the playing field in honor of Billy Craven Jr. Click here for the article in the Canton Citizen.
Girls LAX remains unbeaten- A 17-17 tie with Mansfield in the first game of the season is the only thing between the Girls LAX team and a perfect start to the season- and that is pretty impressive. Since the come-from-behind road tie against the Hornets, the Bulldogs have run off 5 straight victories, including three this week, downing OA, Ursuline and Milford. The key to success this season has been the team's prolific scoring attack as the Bulldogs have put up no less than 12 goals in any single game this season. Leading this week's scoring charge were Mary McNeil, scoring an amazing dozen goals, and Jackie Merrigan, netting nine goals while showing amazing draw control in the first win of the week at OA. Some new faces emerged among the scoring ranks this week as Kelsey Trerice, Christine Ward, Lindsey Nolte, Shannon Proctor, and Mary Nee found the back of the net.
Softball ends week with big win- The Softball team had the bats going and the defense clicking on Thursday as they defeated visiting Watertown, 18-4. Sarah Reissfelder won her first game of the season on the mound and helped herself at the plate, launching a huge grand slam. The team also played a great game on Wednesday but lost an early lead to Sharon and fell 8-9.
Baseball overcomes big defect to beat Spellman- Dom Bires' single over the head of Cardinal Spellman's 3rd baseman during the 5th inning of Thursday's Baseball game at CHS capped off a 5-4 come-from-behind win for the 'Dogs. The team found themselves down 4-0 early on but Kevin Powers kept things together on the mound, throwing a complete game, while the bats came alive. Pat Vartanian hit two deep doubles over the head of the left fielder in back-to-back innings to spark the comeback victory.
Boys Tennis blanks Quincy- The Boys Tennis team came alive on Thursday afternoon as they earned their first victory of the season, 5-0 over visiting Quincy. Sam Riemer and Nathan Maltz continued their fine play at 1st and 2nd singles respectively.
Girls Tennis sits at 4-2 after break even week- All of the Girls Tennis team members played great tennis in the the squad's 5-0 win over Oliver Ames on Monday. Erika Nannery remained unabated at 6-0 at first singles.
Boys LAX bounces back from two losses with two wins- After dropping back-to-back games, the Boys Lacrosse team stepped up and answered the call, earning two big wins over Oliver Ames and Milford. The OA game was a nail-biter, 4-3 while the Milford victory was a 7-0 shutout.
The track teams were overwhelmed by sheer numbers in their meets vs. OA this week. They look to rebound this week.

Week in Review- 4/7/14-4/12/14
Girls LAX perfect on the week- The Girls Lacrosse team earned two big wins this week over Attleboro and Sharon to improve to 2-0-1- undefeated on the young season. Monday saw the squad travel toAttleboro for the first ever match-up with the Blue Bombardiers and the Dogs came away with an 18-8 victory. The team followed up that performance with another impressive effort on Wednesday, downing visiting Sharon, 12-5. Sam Sullivan (9), Mary McNeil (7), Kelli Stigas (4), Jackie Merrigan (3) and Caitlin Hutchinson (2) were the team's multiple goal-scorers on the week.
Baseball catches fire with two big upset wins- After starting off the season with a couple of frustrating, lopsided losses, the Baseball team stormed back with a vengeance this week, earning big wins over Franklin and Milford on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The win over the Panthers on Wednesday was headlined by the performance of sophomore pitcher Griffin Jerrier who threw 6-shutout innings of baseball for the home side, leading the team to a 4-1 win. The victory over Milford came down to the final inning as the Dogs were tied with the SkyHawks 1-1 since the first. After loading the bases, Tommy Glynn's infield hit was enough to drive in the winning run in dramatic fashion. Sam Larson pitched brilliantly in the team's second consecutive win.
Softball earns first victory of the season- Saturday morning saw the Softball team earn its first win of the season in a huge, come-from-behind win over visiting Boston Latin Academy in the first game of a double-header. The squad trailed the visitors of BLA 6-0 after 4 innings but stormed back to force extra innings before earning the impressive 7-6 victory. The bats stayed hot in the second game, but BLA's did as well as the squad fell 18-11. Andrea Tamasi and Julia Nagel each had five hits on the day while freshman Hannah Link earned her first career victory for the mound. The event was also a fundraiser and celebration in honor of the late Bill Cravens Sr. as well as Billy Cravens Jr.- who is battling ALS.
Girls Track races past Sharon- The Girls Track team downed visiting Sharon on Tuesday, 80-56. Leading the team to the victory were Rachel Campagna who scored in 4 events for the 2nd consecutive meet, including 1st place finishes in the 400 and long jump. Cat Song won the mile and 2-mile, qualifying for the state meet in both. Sam Koplik won the 400 hurdles while Michaela Kelly won the 800 and ran a great anchor split on the winning 4x400 team- which also qualified for the states.
Although the Boys team did not put up many points in their match-up with Sharon, a bright spot was Somto Ofonagoro- who won the 100 with a state-qualifying time. His time was the fastest posted in the Hockomock this year and the 3rd fastest in the state.
Boys LAX blanks Attleboro- The Boys Lacrosse team shutout Attleboro, 12-0 on Monday before dropping two tough contests later in the week. The Attleboro win saw Chris Albert and Ben Lodge combine for the shutout in the cage while seven different Bulldogs found the back of the Attleboro net. Tommy Galvin and Ben O'Neil led the scoring but Austin Zannino had the goal of the week on a snipe that went just under the top bar.
Boys Tennis struggled through a winless week but looks to get back to winning ways with a busy week ahead. Nathan Maltz and Sam Riemer each earned a victory in this week's matches.

Billy Cravens Field Dedication on Sunday
The playing field behind the Luce School will be dedicated to Billy Cravens Jr. in a ceremony on Sunday at 1:00pm
Billy has been a fixture on the Canton playing fields for the past half a decade, first growing up on them, then excelling on them in high school and finally, dedicating his life and efforts to helping keep them in great shape for today's kids as a key member of the Rec. Dept. field maintenance crew.
Last year, Billy was diagnosed with ALS and has been battling it like a Bulldog ever since.
The public is invited to attend this very special event.
