  • Softball (V, JV, JV2)
  • Baseball (V, JV, JV2)
  • Girls Tennis (V)
  • Boys Tennis (V)
  • Girls Track and Field (V)
  • Boys Track and Field (V)
  • Girls Lacrosse (V, JV)
  • Boys Lacrosse (V, JV)
  • Competitive Cheer (V)
  • Wrestling (V) IF APPROVED BY MIAA. This has not yet occurred.
  • Unified Sports (Track/Basketball)- To begin prior to the other spring sports- See Blog entry about this year's Unified program.

As has been the case with all of our sports this year, the MIAA has created modifications that must be followed for all of our spring sports. Those can all be found by visiting the MIAA Covid-19 Taskforce website

Spring student athletes should be on the lookout for all of the following things in the coming weeks:

  • Many of our spring programs will be hosting informational zooms and/or have some sort of online sign-up so our coaches can get a sense of who is coming out and provide some information.
  • Official online Registration for our spring sports will open up in early April.
  • Any updates about the season (such as the status of Wrestling) will be posted on this blog.
IMPORTANT REMINDER to SPRING STUDENT ATHLETES- We know you are all excited about getting back out there after missing the 2020 season. We are excited for you! However- please remember that Captains' Practices are not permitted by MIAA rule and are NOT condoned by the CHS Athletic Department. While you train in the remainder of the off-season be sure to follow all Covid-19 protocols.
Thank you!

Unified Sports are Back!

The CHS Athletic Department is happy to announce that our Unified Sports program is beginning its 2020-21 season in early April.

This year's program will be unique.  It will be a blended Track and Field and Basketball program.  Much of the details around how the exact schedule of events will take place will revolve around many factors, including how many student athletes register.

CHS has been at the forefront of the Unified Sports scene since we launched our Unified Track and Field program in 2016. In Massachusetts, Unified Sports were born out of a collaboration between US Special Olympics and the MIAA.  Special Olympics Project Unify is an education-based project, funded by the US Dept. of Education, that uses the sports and education programs of Special Olympics to activate young people across the US. In order to promote school communities where all young people are agents of change- fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with disabilities.  Canton High School and Special Olympics believe that through sports young people can make a difference in friendships, schools and communities.

The program is open to ALL CHS students.

There is no specific User Fee for this program.  Students simply must pay the general school activity fee which allows students to participate in any activity throughout the year.

Registration for Unified Track/Basketball is now open.  Parents/guardians must register their Unified student athlete by Monday, March 29th.

For more specific information on the program, feel free to contact either:

Ryan Quinn to take reigns of Boys LAX program

The CHS Athletic Department is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ryan Quinn as our new Head Varsity Boys Lacrosse coach. Quinn succeeds Tim Taylor who was named head coach prior to the spring 2020 season but due to the cancelation of that season, never coached a game before having to move on due to professional obligations.

Coach Ryan Quinn with his wife
Colleen and son Liam
Quinn is currently a teacher and technology specialist at the Galvin Middle School- a position he took after more than 15 years in the private sector serving in various marketing and project management roles.

Quinn played his collegiate lacrosse at Merrimack College under coach Ryan Polley where he also played on the Mens Soccer team. He is a volunteer coach for his son's youth soccer, lacrosse, baseball, basketball and football teams in recent years.

"Canton has a rich sports history and I am blessed and honored to join the CHS Athletic Department," noted Quinn. "The passion and commitment from Administration, staff and players has been contagious and has been evident throughout the interview process.  We have a huge opportunity in from of us and we will not take that lightly. Very excited to get going."

Quinn inherits a team that had been under coach Bill Bendell for nearly two decades before taking a pandemic break in 2020.  In many ways it will be a whole new team taking the field next month.  Bulldog Boys LAX student athletes should keep their eyes open for upcoming informational Zoom with coach Quinn.

Canton High School Fall 2-Wedge Season Spectator Protocols

As we head into our first competitions of the Fall 2-Wedge season, the CHS Athletics Department would like to announce the following protocols for our spectators:

  • Spectators at our events will no longer need to fill out our Self-Health Screener.  Our student athletes will continue to fill it out each day but spectators no longer need to fill it out when attending contests.
  • Spectators will now simply be asked if they have any symptoms or have traveled.  Please do NOT attend contests if you are not feeling well.
  • ONLY HOME spectators will be welcome at all Hockomock League contests. Please do NOT travel to away venues to watch away contests.
  • MOST away contests will be live-streamed by the host school. This may not be the case with Track as the dynamics of live-streaming a track meet make is problematic.
  • At Canton High School- we will allow two parents and any siblings of our own student athletes involved in the contest to attend home CHS events.
  • CHS Event Staff will be present at home contest to check all family members in.
  • A strict mask-mandate as well as expectations of full social distancing remains in effect at our contests. Please properly wear your mask and respect our social distancing expectations.
We are hopeful that as we continue into the spring, our protocols MAY continue to become more open.  Please understand that strong adherence to social distancing and mask wearing by those attending our early games this season will have a major impact on whether or not we may be able to further loosen up in future months.

Thank you.

NO Spectators allowed at Wednesday Football Scrimmage

There will be no spectators permitted to attend the Canton High School vs. Taunton High School Varsity Football scrimmage at CHS on Wednesday, March 3rd.

This includes both home and away fans.

Please understand that we are using this scrimmage as an opportunity to go over game-day protocols without a crowd present.  This is a SCRIMMAGE- PRACTICE GAME.

It is expected that home fans who live with our players will be granted access to home games beginning with our game with North Attleboro on Friday, March 12th. The Hockomock League will be publishing a statement regarding a league-wide spectator policy for Fall 2 soon.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue our efforts to provide the safest athletic experience possible.
