User Fees due for Fall Sports

The deadline to pay your user fee for Fall 2019 athletics is Thursday, September 12th.  To ensure that there are no interruptions in student eligibility, the fee must be paid by this deadline.  Any student athlete who is part of the free and/or reduced lunch program gets a waiver of this fee.

Click Here for info on payment info and options.

Thank you Mike Barucci!

If you've been to a CHS sporting event over the past dozen or so years, you have probably seen Mike Barucci (our Golf coach and a key member of the CPS technology department) roaming the sidelines with his camera, capturing so many amazing Bulldog moments in time.  His sports photos have graced the pages of our blogs, Twitter accounts, webpages and the Canton Citizen.  Many of his photos hang up around the CHS Athletic hallway as well.

He has captured all of the big milestone wins and accomplishments as well as some heartbreaking moments during that long stretch of years. Win or lose, he has been there, helping to provide a visual history of CHS Athletics since the mid 2000s.

I am sad to report that he is hanging up his camera- not completely!  He will still be snapping pics around school for the annual senior slide show, but his days of roaming the sidelines for us are done.  Although he will continue being a huge Bulldog supporter, the photography at CHS sporting events was just too time consuming. Has certainly logged enough hours for all of us over the years. It's also true that when he started on the sidelines, not everyone had a camera on them at all times.  Smartphones with great cameras are making photos more and more available and the need for folks like Mike to document everything is not as strong as it once was.

If you see coach Barucci around, be sure to thank him for his years of dedication to our student athletes.  This blog entry includes some of my favorites from him over the years.

Thanks Coach!

By the way- his highly touted Golf team begins their 2019 campaign today against Milford High School at Hopedale CC. Good luck!

Student Athlete/Parent Night set for September 17th

Keynote speaker Ed Gerety
All Bulldog student athletes must save the date of Tuesday, September 17th for our annual CHS Athletic Kickoff Night.  The event will run from 7:00-8:15pm in the CHS auditorium.  This year's keynote speaker will be Ed Gerety.  Gerety is an enthusiastic speaker with an amazing message of excellence and the power of good.  He is AWESOME.  He spoke at our Hockomock League captains conference in past years and was really well received by our student athletes. It will be a great night for our kids and parents.

The event is MANDATORY for any student currently playing a fall sport AND anyone considering joining a sport in the winter or spring seasons. We ask that each student athlete attend with at least one parent/guardian.

Here is a link to Ed Gerety's website.

A special Thanks to the CHS Athletic Booster Club for making this night possible.  Our boosters will be present that night selling bulldog gear and registering people as members.  See this other blog entry for info on our amazing booster club.

See you on September 17th!

Our Bulldogs need your support!

As the 2019-20 school year begins, it's a good time to share with Bulldog Nation, all the good work that our Athletic Booster Club does for our student athletes AND to ask you all to join this amazing club.

Our CHS Athletic Booster Club has been supporting our athletic programs for more than 10 years.  The club has become an essential part of the CHS Athletic student experience.  Their financial support of our programs make it possible for our student experiences to be impactful, prideful and powerful. Here are just SOME of the things that our club does for us:

Banquets, Championship Banners, Senior Nights, Bulldog gear, fully funding our strength and conditioning program, fully funding Hudl video analysis system for all programs, sound system at Memorial Field, scoreboard at Baseball field, guest speakers and training,  coach professional development, Championship gear, trophies, awards, team activities, team gear, team equipment like batting cages, indoor baseball/softball netting systems, extra training goals, jugs machines, fan buses for big games, and so much more.

None of this would be possible without the support of all of our members.  Our largest fundraiser each year is our membership drive.  People who pledge to be a member make such an impact. We encourage all CHS athletic families to join the club.  It is something that really does go right towards our kids experiences.

Besides helping to support our kids, you get a HUGE potential benefit. For many families, becoming a member is a SAVINGS.  Family memberships get your family members into ticketed home Bulldog events all year long.  That includes Football games (not Thanksgiving), night Girls and Boys Soccer games, Wrestling meets, Girls and Boys Hockey games, and Girls and Boys Basketball games.  So if you're a fanatical Bulldog fan with a family of 4, it could save you between $500-$1000 annually.  And the membership is less than $200!

Not sure how to join?  I made it easy with links strewn throughout this blog entry!  Please support us!

Thank you Bulldog Nation!

Let's get it started!

Hello Bulldog Nation!

Welcome to our 2019-20 CHS Athletics campaign. We are ready to go!  Believe it or not, we have three teams in action today to officially kick off the year.  Boys and Girls Cross Country are headed to Nauset Regional High School for their opening race of the year and Girls Soccer is heading to NDA in Hingham to start their season. Good luck to both teams!

Our home contests begin Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Home Field Hockey and Volleyball on Thursday, Home Football on Friday and Home Boys Soccer on Saturday.  Golf joins in on the fun next week!

Here is some helpful information to all Bulldog supporters as we enter into the school year:

1. Schedules can be found in several places. The most accurate and updated schedules are found via the MIAA.  The easiest way to access these schedules is through the MIAA app. It's free. Just search MIAA on your smartphone's app store. You can also access the same schedule through the CHS Athletics website.

Click Here for team specific schedules.

Click Here for a master Bulldog calendar.

2. Important updates regarding Bulldog athletics are communicated through this blog. Please consider signing up for email updates from this blog.

3. Coming to support your Bulldogs at an event?  Please be aware of some important things:

  • Most CHS evening events require a ticket purchase.  Ticket prices are $5, senior citizens- $3, and under 8 is free!  OR you can join the Booster Club as a family membership and get into everything ALL year for FREE (excluding Thanksgiving football and playoff games).
  • If you are supporting a Bulldog team outside during the next month, be sure to load up on the mosquito repellent and wear long sleeves and pants. Although Canton's EEE threat level is only at moderate, please use precaution.
  • Please only park in marked parking spaces. When attending a game at the turf, NEVER park in the interior portion of the lot by the field. Once one person parks their, it starts a flurry of parking there and it becomes unsafe.
  • Please be a great fan. Be loud. Be proud. And Be respectful of the officials, opponents, and all involved. Click Here for Hockomock League Spectator Expectations

4. Please consider joining our Booster Club! I will be sending out a separate blog entry on the importance of supporting this great group! Click here to join today!

5. Twitter users- please follow CHS Athletics at @CantonAthletics
