Marcotti and Amico take the reigns

There will be two new varsity coaches leading our Bulldog winter programs this season as our Gymnastics and Indoor Track teams have new head coaches.

The Indoor Track program will be headed up by former assistant indoor/outdoor track and assistant volleyball coach Anna Amico. Amico is a 2011 CHS graduate. She takes over for Dan Ashman, who led the track program for the past several seasons before accepting a teaching position in central Mass.. Amico brings a passion and energy to the position that will most certainly lead to success.

The Gymnastics program will now be in the hands of Juliette Marcotti- Stoughton High School class of 2011. Marcotti is a coach at Metro-South Gymnastics, the home gym of the Bulldogs. She brings a wealth of gymnastics coaching experience to the position. She takes the reigns from Carla King- the recently retired, long-serving Bulldogs Gymnastics coach.

Bulldog Nation welcomes both coach Amico and coach Marcotti and wishes them well!

Girls Soccer Advances....Boys fall in PK's

Both the Girls and Boys Soccer teams forced their first round games to OT.  The Girls team prevailed as Tessa Cudmore buried a rebound off of a Hailee Duserick shot from distance to down Dartmouth, 1-0 just 4 minutes into sudden death OT.
The Boys team battled hard throughout regulation and 2 full OT periods tied 1-1- before heading to decide who would advance on a Penalty Shootout. The defending D2 South Walpole Rebels scored on all 5 of their shots while the Bulldogs only managed 4. Freshman Jake Verille scored Canton's goal in regulation.
Both the Girls and Boys goalkeepers played incredibly well on the day- Kathryn Doody and Aidan Carr.

The Girls Advance to the South Sectional Quarter-Finals where they will face top-seeded and unbeaten Hingham on Thursday night at 6:30 at Hingham.

Volleyball advances....Field Hockey goes down fighting....Soccer set for tonight

The Volleyball team had a convincing 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-11) win at home over Milton to open up their 2014 tournament campaign last night. Olivia Devoe had a spectacular night (7 kills and 9 digs and great overall play). Erin Proctor had 24 assists (adding to that career 1,000+ total). Elizabeth Hamilton, Chidera Nwankwo, Sarah Reissfelder and Julia Mackie combined for 23 kills. Danelle Arthur played well defensively.

The #2 seeded Bulldogs will host #3 seeded Hopkinton on Wednesday night at 7:00 in the Sectional Semi-Final round---- a rematch of last year's match.  Admission- $7- Adults.....$5- Students. No Bulldog passes accepted.

The Field Hockey team  played exceptionally well for the 2nd straight tourney game, but it was not enough to over-take the regular season Davenport Champion Oliver Ames Tigers, as their season came to an end in a 2-1 defeat. The #10 seeded Bulldogs gave the #2 seeded Tigers all they could handle, especially in a flurry of activity around the OA goal in the closing minutes of the game, but Canton could not find the back of the cage.  The Canton goal earlier in the game came very late in the first half when Mary McNeil found Lindsey Nolte off of a corner and Nolte burried it.

The Bulldogs have nothing to be disappointed about. They finish their 2014 season with an impressive 14-5-2 record and having played some exceptional field hockey!

Both the Girls and Boys Soccer Teams will see their first tourney action tonight.
