Highlights of the week- 10/13-10/18/14

Golf earns two big wins in final two matches- The Golf team traveled to Segregansett CC on Tuesday and became only the 2nd team this season to defeat Taunton on their home course 164-169. They then followed up that huge road win with a 154-180 win over Stoughton on Wednesday- the team's lowest score of the season at their home course at Blue Hills CC. Wednesday's match saw all 4 scoring Bulldogs break 40- Mike Breviglia (38- following up a 37 1-over par from the day before), Luke Thompson (38), Brian Halloran (39), and Jim Jenkins (39).  The team wrapped up regular season play with a record of 11-3- best record since 2002!


Two-win week earns Field Hockey a Tourney bid- It's like a right of autumn. If it's October, the CHS Field Hockey team is qualifying for the State Tournament. No change this fall. This week saw the Bulldogs defeat Attleboro (4-0) and Milford (3-1) while dropping a close one to Oliver Ames (1-2) earning enough points to qualify for the 2014 DI South Field Hockey Tournament.  Taylor Carrington played the entire game in net against Milford earning the big win. Colleen Phelan had two goals in the Milford win while Caroline Hagan scored the lone goal in the mid-week loss to Oliver Ames.


Battle of Volleyball Giants ends with Bulldog's first loss of season- Two 3-0 Hock Davenport volleyball victories over Oliver Ames and Milford set up a huge battle of undefeateds...Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) and the Bulldogs...both teams ranked in the top 20 in the Boston Globe Poll (NDA #1 and the CHS #6) friday evening in Hingham. The Bulldogs came out on fire taking the first set in convincing fashion (25-16) but the #1 rated NDA squad regrouped and took the next 3 sets to hand the Bulldogs their first loss of the season (3-1). Liz Hamilton had 13 kills and 2 aces. Chidera Nwankwo had 6 kills and 3 blocks. Olivia Devoe had 5 kills and an ace while Erin Proctor had 29 assists and an ace of her own.


Boys & Girls Soccer edge closer to Tourney qualifying- The Girls Soccer team earned a huge point on the road against a strong Foxboro team, 1-1 on Wednesday night, before falling to OA at home, 0-1 Friday. The tie moves the team within three points of qualifying for the State Tournament.

The Boys Soccer team faced the two top teams in the Davenport this week and came up with 2 completely opposite results, falling at home to Foxboro, 3-0 and upsetting Oliver Ames on the road, 3-0.  Bart O'Brien (1 goal, 1 assist), Jake Verille (1 goal), Joey Basile (1 goal) led the way to the victory. Aidan Carr earned his 4th shutout of the season in the big win over the Tigers.
