WWII Veterans' Memorial Field Bleacher update

The CHS Athletic office is thrilled to announce that the new bleachers installed at WWII Veterans' Memorial Field are cleared for our use beginning this afternoon with our home Field Hockey game! After the Field Hockey game wraps up we will host our first home Football game of the season.

Reminders as we fully open our facility-

1. The Press Box and permanent sound system is not yet operational. Thank you for your patience with us as we navigate major events without it.

2. The site is still an active construction site. We ask that when attending games, you stay away from temporary construction fences, any areas marked off limits and watch your step at all times.

3. Gates will not be open for tonight's football game until 6:15pm. Purchase your tickets early at this link on your cell phone- https://gofan.co/app/events/683975?schoolId=MA14531

Captains Workshop set for September 23rd

Positive Coaching Alliance will be holding a Captains' Workshop for CHS Varsity captains of all three seasons on Friday, September 23rd in the CHS Cafeteria immediately after school.  Please note that 9/23 is an early release day.

This event is mandatory for all of our captains.  It must be a priority for all. If you are a captain with a conflicting commitment, you must bring that to Mr. Erickson's attention asap.

The dismissal bell on that day will ring at 11:15am. At that time, all captains will report immediately to the CHS Cafeteria where lunch will be served.  We will then roll up our sleeves and get to work with our trainer from PCA.  Bring your championship mindset with you!  Great opportunity to grow and make our teams and school better!

The workshop should be concluded by 1:30 at the latest.

We look forward to 9/23!

CHS Athletics partners with PCA

The CHS Athletic Department is excited to announce that we have partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for the 2022-23 school athletic year.

PCA is a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience.  The partnership provides CHS Athletics access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes and administrators, through live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources, such as follow-up tips and reminders.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 schools, districts, conferences, youth sports organizations and park-and-rec departments to create a Development Zone® culture, where the goal is using youth and high school sports to develop Better Athletes, Better People. “We look forward to working with Canton High School to create the best possible experience for the student-athletes," said Positive Coaching Alliance CEO, Chris Moore.  “Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives.”

CHS Athletics is so excited to re-establish this relationship with PCA. The organization has continued to grow and make a  huge positive impact on the high school sports experiences of so many.

A big shout out to the CHS Booster Club for supporting this important initiative.

Our partnership kicks off with two big workshops this month-

Friday, September 23rd at 11:30- Captains Workshop during early release time.

Tuesday, September 27th- Coaching Workshop for all CHS Coaches.

We are very excited for both of these!

Fall Athletic User Fees now due

Reminder to our fall student athlete families that User Fees for our fall sports are now due.

Many of our fall athletes paid the fee at the time they registered.  If you did so, you are all set! If not you now have two options-

1. Submit a check with the form found at this link-  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rXw2PWdC9NFdGSPbty_n8DDIrxOLVNwT/edit

2. Go back into our FamilyID registration system...log-in....go into the registration you submitted for this fall for your student athlete....go to end of and select pay.  If you pay with a credit card there is a significant fee.

Memorial Field Bleacher project

The CHS Athletic Office would like to let all student athletes, parents/guardians, opponents and fans know that the CHS WWII Veterans' Memorial Field home-side bleachers have been replaced this summer in a town-funded capital project.  Yet another example of this town supporting our student athletes.  Thank you!

The bleacher replacement project is NOT YET COMPLETE and therefor the home side bleachers are NOT YET available for use.  We are optimistic that they will be open for use by 9/15/2022.

In the meantime, if you are attending a CHS event at the field, please plan on watching from the visitor-side bleachers or from along the fence line.

Thank you for your understanding!
