Boston Globe honors six Bulldogs in winter season

Everyone but Devin fit in this pic. Can you find our Hockey All-Scholastics?
The Boston Globe officially published their Winter season Globe All-Scholastic teams today and Canton High School had an unprecedented six Bulldogs receiving this high praise.

The honors come on the heals of the most successful winter season in recent memory in Bulldogland that saw the Dogs earn three Hockomock Davenport Titles (Girls Swim, Boys Hockey, and Boys Basketball), a Boys Hockey State Championship (undefeated), four teams qualify for the MIAA tournament (Boys and Girls Basketball and Boys and Girls Hockey), a Sectional Wrestling Champion (Cole Murphy), and a new all-time scoring record set in Boys Basketball (Devin Foster).

Earning Globe All-Scholastic is a rare honor and to have so many Bulldogs recognized in a single season is something all Bulldogs can be proud of.  Let's also remember that although all of these six are extremely deserving of this recognition, all six play in a team sport and their teammates played a major role in each of their successes.

Be sure to congratulate these Bulldogs when you next see them!

Girls Hockey All-Scholastic- Maggie Malloy

Boys Hockey Coach of the Year- D2- Brian Shuman
Boys Hockey Super Team- Ryan Nolte and Mike Staffiere
Boys Hockey All-Scholastic- Johnny Hagan

Boys Basketball All-Scholastic- Devin Foster

NOTE- Although all of this information is available at the links above, I suggest you get a copy of the Boston Sunday Globe today (April 7, 2019) as there is something pretty cool about looking at this amazing group of athletes and coaches in newsprint.

Gibson Field Scoreboard Celebrated

CHS Varsity Baseball team with coach Ben Shuffain, Booster Club President Craig Allen, AD Danny Erickson, Little League's and CHS Booster Brett Burbank, Little League's and recently elected Selectmen Mike Loughran, Principal Derek Folan, Superintendent Jennifer Fischer-Mueller, The Bank of Canton's David Scarcella, The Bank of Canton's Steve Costello, CPS Business Administrator Barry Nectow.
Members of the 2019 CHS Boys Varsity Baseball team took time out of their pre-game opening day preparations to join school and community officials in recognizing the newly installed scoreboard for the field. The scoreboard has been a long time coming and was made possible by donations from The Bank of Canton, Canton Little League and the CHS Athletic Booster Club as well as the hard work of the Canton Dept. of Public Works, Canton Recreation Department and CPS Maintenance Department.

The Gibson Scoreboard will be used by High School, Little League as well as other local baseball groups. It is a state of the art scoreboard that is completely solar powered.

Once again, this is such a great example of how fortunate our Bulldog student athletes are to live in this community.  So many businesses continue to show support of our student athletes in so many ways. This is far from the first time The Bank of Canton has supported the purchase of a scoreboard for our kids.  They have actually been the primary provider of baseball/softball scoreboards all around town. We are so lucky to have then as industry leaders in Canton. Next time you are in the bank, be sure to thank them for us!

The Bulldogs face-off against D2 power Duxbury in their opening game.  Hopefully there will be some good news for fans to see on the new scoreboard!

Go Dogs!
