Hockomock League releases All-Star selections

The Hockomock League recently announced their Spring Hock All-Star Selections.  Here are the Bulldogs who were recognized:

Fall- Sport Specific Information

Anyone interested in trying out for a fall athletic program MUST have a parent register you prior to the following deadlines:
Football- August 21st at Noon
All other sports- August 24th at Noon

Sport Specific First Day Information:

Football- All students interested in playing football should report to room 122 for a team meeting on Monday, August 24th at 4:00pm. Weight Training and film work will take place from 4:30-6:00pm. On field practice will take place at the turf from 6:30-8:30pm.

Golf- Mandatory meeting on Wednesday, August 26th at 2:00pm at the Galvin Middle School to discuss the tryout process/schedule. Times and locations for tryouts on Thursday, August 27th will be distributed at this meeting.

Boys and Girls Cross Country- All interested students should report to the CHS Field House at the turf for a 5k time trial on August 27th at 8:00am.

Boys Soccer- All boys interested in playing soccer should report to the turf/track on Thursday morning, August 27th at 8:00am for a fitness test including a 2-mile run. No cleats needed for this session. Goalkeepers will NOT be running the 2-mile but will train in goal at the conclusion of the fitness training. Our first field session will take place later that day at the grass field on lower campus (Gibson) from 4:00-6:00pm.

Cheerleading- First practice of the season will be in the Rodman Gym on August 27th from 5:00-6:30 with a parent/athlete meeting to follow.

Girls Soccer- All girls interested in playing soccer should report to JFK on Thursday morning, August 27th at 9:00am for a fitness test and technical skill session. Our second session will take place later that day at the CHS turf from 5:00-6:45.

Field Hockey- All girls interested in tryout out for Field Hockey should report to the turf/track on Thursday, August 27th at 12:30pm for skill evaluations. Our fitness testing will take place later that evening at 6:30pm. Shin guards, mouth guards, goggles and field hockey sticks are required at all practices.

Girls Volleyball- We welcome anyone interested in playing volleyball (no experience necessary) to join us for tryouts at the CHS gym at the following times- Thursday, August 27th from 5:00-9:00pm......Friday, August 28th from 2:30-6:30pm......Saturday, August 29th from 9:00am-noon.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time.

Class of 2015 honored at Senior Banquet

The Canton High School Athletic Department honored members of the graduating class of 2015 at last night's senior banquet. Below are some details from last night's presentation:

  • The CHS Varsity coaching staff was present to bid official farewell to the members of the class of 2015. 
  • The retirement of Swim Coach Lori Mooney was announced after a great coaching career.  
  • 130 of the 219 members of the class were awarded with their official varsity letters which were earned during their time with us. 
  • 15 members of the class earned varsity letters in three sports during their senior year.Hockomock League Scholar-Athlete

Baseball wins wild prelim with GNBVHS- advances to face top seed

The Baseball team traveled to Greater New Bedford Vocational on Thursday afternoon and came home victorious, 6-4 after a 13 inning battle. Read up on the game by clicking here.

The team will travel to face top-seeded Westwood on Saturday at 2:00pm at Westwood High School.

2015 Fall Sports Registration Now Open

Anyone interested in trying out for a fall athletic program MUST have a parent register you prior to doing so. The easiest way to register is to visit the CHS Athletics website and complete the online registration available there.

We are looking to get students registered by their parents by June 19th. 

The following sports programs are offered at CHS in the fall:

Cross Country (Varsity)
Football (Varsity, JV, and Freshmen)
Golf (Varsity)
Soccer (Varsity, JV)

Girls-
Cheerleading (Varsity)
Cross Country (Varsity)
Field Hockey (Varsity, JV)

User Fees are not due until September 9, 2015.

Football starts on Monday, August 24th
All other sports start on Thursday, August 27th
