Week in Review- October 6-11, 2014

Volleyball Volleys for Molly and keeps the wins coming-
The Volleyball team remained undefeated this week, earning 3 big wins while also raising money and awareness for Ovarian Cancer with their annual Volley for Molly.  Wins over Franklin on Monday (3-0...25-23, 25-18 and 25-15), Taunton on Wednesday (3-2...25-12, 20-25, 25-7, 19-25, 15-10) and Foxboro on Friday (3-0...25-12, 25-10, 25-23). Chidera Nwankwo had a huge week with 14 blocks and 32 kills. Other great performances were put in by Erin Proctor, Sarah Reissfelder, Ariana Sanusi, and Julia Mackie.

The team remains firmly in the Boston Globe's Top 20 Rankings.

Friday's match with Foxboro also featured a fundraiser/awareness event for Ovarian Cancer in the annual Volley for Molly. The team worked hard and raised over $500 for the cause! Great job girls!

Football team plays great but falls in heartbreaking fashion-
At no point during the entire game did the Black Knights have a lead over the Bulldogs at CHS on Friday night...other than when the clock read 0:00 in the 4th quarter. After a strong performance that saw the 'dogs take a 19-7 lead into halftime and hold a 25-22 lead with the ball deep in Black Knight territory with less than a minute to play, the unthinkable happened and the visitors put together a 70+ yard drive with no time outs, culminating in a touchdown pass with no time left on the clock.

The 28-25 final score devastated Bulldog fans who had been treated to a great offensive performance by the Green and White. The combination of Brian Hagan to Derrick Harris was unbelievable on the day, repeatedly connecting on great passes and catches. Anthony Ross made two HUGE catches over the middle in key moments of key drives. It was an overall phenomenal Bulldog performance.

The team will look to rebound as they travel to Foxboro on Friday night at 7:00pm.

Golf Team enjoys winning week-
The Golf team earned two big wins over the top two teams in the Kelley-Rex division, 159-170 over Franklin and 155-168 over Mansfield. The Panthers and Hornets had a combined record of 18-5 coming into their matches with the Bulldogs. Brian Halloran led the way in both wins (39 and 37). Luke Thompson matched Halloran in the Franklin win also posting a 39 while Steve Gorham matched him in the Mansfield match with a 37.

The team also finished 5th in the Hock Championship meet.

Franklin tops Boys & Girls Soccer and Field Hockey early in week but all three bounce back-
Field Hockey earned a big 2-1 win over Taunton Wednesday and followed it up with a 3-0 win over Foxboro on Friday. Wednesday's road win at Taunton was paced by goals by Lindsey Nolte and Caroline Hagan.

After being shut out on Monday against Franklin, the Boys Soccer team came back with a vengeance, scoring 7 goals in wins over Taunton and Norwood. Damian Kozak scored 6 of those goals and moved into a tie for 4th place on the Bulldog all-time goal scoring list. Bart O'Brien assisted on 3 goals this week.

The Girls Soccer team earned two big shutout wins this week, 2-0 over Taunton and 2-0 over Norwood. Hailee Duserick scored some big goals in the wins. Kathryn Doody earned both shutouts in net.
