Canton Hall of Fame inducts six in long-awaited ceremony

The Canton High Athletic Department would like to congratulate and thank the Town of Canton Athletic Hall of Fame committee on Sunday's amazing induction ceremony.  This committee, which was on hiatus for more than a dozen years before having to delay an induction ceremony several times due to the pandemic, was finally able to host this amazing ceremony which honored six individuals/teams.

The dynamic trio of Jerry Govatsos, Dorsey Wheeler and Paula Sanderson resurrected the HOF years after the loss of Maura Sullivan- who was the brainchild behind the Canton HOF.  Maura was also on the top of the list of those inducted this spring.  The committee honored her for Lifetime Achievement including the founding of the Canton HOF.  Most importantly Maura was a champion for so many of our student athletes over the years.  Sunday's event had Maura's touches all over it. It was wonderful.

Too many people behind the scenes to recognize everyone who made the day possible but big shoutout to those who worked on the amazing video tributes- Meghan Wheeler, Tanya Willow, Alaina Sullivan and Jerry Govatsos. They were awesome.
