Lane heading to Westfield to continue Field Hockey career

Erin Lane- '22 heading to
Westfield State in August
This is the first of a series of blog releases highlighting members of the CHS class of 2022 who have committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The CHS Athletic Department is thrilled to formally announce that Bulldog Field Hockey standout Erin Lane has committed to continuing her academic and Field Hockey career at Westfield State University this August.

Lane will be transitioning from playing for one veteran coach in Bulldog Head Coach Chrissy O'Connor, to another in Jessica Bergen- who has been at the helm for the Owls since 2012.  The 2021 team saw the Owls advance to the MASCAC quarterfinal before falling to Southern Maine.

Lane, who comes from a proud family of Bulldogs, has been a key figure in the successes of the CHS Field Hockey team in recent years- helping lead the squad to Hockomock Davenport Division Championships in her sophomore (2019) and senior (2021) seasons. She was honored by the Hock as a League All-Star this past season.  She also excels for her Bay State Field Hockey club in the high school off-season.

Erin had this to say upon her formal announcement-
"I want to thank my coaches and all of my family for everything that they have done for me. I appreciate everyone's help to get me where I am today."

Bulldog coach Chrissy O'Connor had this to say about her standout player as she heads off to Westfield-
"Erin has contributed on the field for the past four seasons at CHS.  We are so proud of her development as a field hockey player and leader and look forward to her taking it to the next level as a Westfield Owl."
