Bohane named Head Softball Coach

The Canton High School Athletic Department is happy to announce the naming of Dave Bohane as our new Head Varsity Softball coach.  Bohane takes the reigns from coach Jen Robillard who was at the helm of the Bulldog Softball program for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Coach David Bohane
Bohane has been a fixture in the Canton community since the early 1990's when he began his teaching career in Physical Education at the Hansen School before moving to the Wellness Department at Canton High School.  He has had two stints as Head Varsity Football coach for the Bulldogs- one in the 1990s.  He returned to the Bulldog gridiron sidelines in 2011 and has overseen a huge resurgence in the program, culminating in the  League Championship in 2018- the first in nearly 30 years.

Bohane served under Robillard in the 2017 season as assistant coach of the Softball team. He has extensive experience in working with young softball players and prospects and has become a true student of the game over the past several years.  David is a true program leader.  He is just what our Softball team is in need of at this point.  He will bring a high-intensity, high-energy winning attitude to the program right away.  We are so happy to for both coach Bohane and the Softball program.

Bohane had this to say about his appointment:

"I am excited and ready to get started.  It is a great opportunity.  This program can take off.  I teach great student athletes in my Wellness classes every day.  Many of them are involved in the Softball program. It is really a privilege to be named their coach. I look forward to building a championship caliber program."

The Softball team is coming off an 8-13 season last year but hopes are high moving forward.
