Weekly Highlights- Jan 2nd-9th 2015

Great start to 2015 for Bulldogs as many teams enjoyed some great success this past week!

Indoor Track Teams Shining- It was a great week for CHS Track as the Girls team went 2-0 with wins over Milford and Stoughton while the Boys defeated Milford and performed well in a loss to a powerful Stoughton squad.

The Girls beat Milford 61-38 and downed Stoughton 69-29. Some great performances:

  • Selena Cho won 55m and the long jump in both victories
  • Jen Dever won the 1000m against the Skyhawks while Sophie Argus came in 2nd
  • It was a 1-2-3 finish in the Mile against Milford....Olivia Stevens, Kerrin Sennet and Margaret Polsgrove (in that order)
  • Cat Song continued her dominance in the 2 mile posting the fastest time in the league against Milford (11:46.78
  • Tanya Bastien won the 300 against Stoughton
  • Lauren Peplau won the 600 against Stoughton
  • Tamarra Auguste won the high jump against the Black Knights. 
  • Sam Koplik won the 55 hurdles against the Black Knights
The Boys beat Milford 51-47 and lost to Stoughton 25-70. Some great performances:
  • 1-2-3 finish in the 1000m against Milford- Timmy Gutkowski, Andrew Moy and Noah Healey (in that order)
  • Liam Collins won the mile against Milford and the 2-mile against Stoughton.
  • Mark Clancy won the 2 mile against Milford.
  • Oren Vishney won the long jump against Milford
  • Phil Pennacchio won the shot put against Milford. 

Great week for Swim Teams- The Boys Swim team earned two big wins this week improving to 4-1 on the season while the girls split, improving to 3-2. 

Results- 
Girls lose 77-103 to Ashland
Boys win 90-83 over Ashland
Girls win 99-66 over Foxboro
Boys win 90-52 over Foxboro

The key to success this week was certainly the team's depth as 2nd-3rd place finishes were all over the board for the Bulldogs. Some great performances on the week:
  • Amanda Walsh qualified for the sectionals in the 500 free
  • Boys 400 free relay qualified for the sectionals- Diego Ferstler, Dan Nadeau, Owen Guerini and Sebastian Melendez
  • Melendez took 1st in both the 200IM and the 100 fly against Ashland

Boys Hoop rebounds from tough road loss to earn huge home win- The Boys Basketball team pour in 14 three point field goals in Friday night's 66-60 win over Davenport rival Stoughton in front of a packed CHS gym. Derek Harris (29) and Ben O'Neil (17) led the Bulldog scoring attack, but it was tenacious team defense that really won the game. The team sits at 4-4 with a busy week ahead.


Up and Down week for Boys Hockey- The Boys Hockey team came out flat and fell to Mansfield, 2-0 on Saturday but rebounded with a dominating performance in a 10-2 win over King Philip mid-week.  Seamus Pecararo and Tommy Kilduff scored their first varsity goals of their careers. Matt Lazaro earned the hattrick while Jerry Harding added two of his own. Brian Hagan, John Femia and Shaun Kirby each found the back of the KP goal as well. The 'dogs sit at 3-3 after the first half-dozen games. 


Wrestlers fall in mid-week duel with Foxboro- The 'dogs fell to the Warriors 46-29 but it was a great match. Some winners for the Bulldogs were- Brendan Lewis, Rob Dicalogero, Reda Chakir, Caleb Nix and Wavol Prentice. 


Girls Hockey and Girls Basketball teams fight hard in losses- Competitive losses to some great opponents marked this week's results for the Girls hoop and hockey teams. Both teams continue to show great grit and look to earn some big wins in the week ahead.
