Football loses heartbreaker to Foxboro

By Amanda Romano

On Friday, October 3, the Canton High School Football team suffered a devastating defeat against Foxboro High School. Foxboro won 10-7, stealing the lead in the second half from Canton with just minutes to go. Mike Mahon, a senior on Canton High’s team, gave his opinions on the defeat, “We played a great game. They were a great team. (We) had our shots, (we) played a great game.” Mahon shared similar opinions with the rest of the team, they all agreed they gave it their all and are still proud of how they played.
The stakes were high for this game, both teams in the Davenport league had won three of three games they played this year: One team would leave the field 4-0 and one would be 3-1. The boys prepared themselves for the game per usual, and while coach David Bohane ran through plays, the boys in the locker room prepared, too.
Defenseman Jude Albert was exceptionally excited for the game. He said, “I’m only a sophomore playing on varsity, it’s a big moment. I’m going to probably remember this game for the rest of my life.” And that he will. He matched himself up against some of the tallest Foxboro players, and blocked a lot of possible touchdowns for Foxboro. Even though Foxboro eventually scored, Albert played amazing defense. Sophomore Louis Bois, also described this game as the “biggest game for a long time,”
The boys suffered a hard loss but they all tried their hardest, and in the end, both teams played an amazing game. Senior, Woanyen Mahn thought the same thing, “I think we played pretty well, I mean we played pretty hard, all the guys were going as hard as possible, I mean we were stopping them almost every down. We got a few big plays and they got a few lucky plays, a couple lucky breaks.”.
