Another snow-shortened Highlights of the week- Feb. 2-8th

Despite the crazy winter weather, the Bulldogs are persevering and great things continue to happen!

Swimmers excel at Sectionals- It was a historic weekend for our pool dogs as several of our best swimmers participated in the MIAA Sectional Swim meets.

Saturday saw Sebastian Melendez become the first male Bulldog swimmer in school history (as far as our records show) to win not only one first place medal, but two! Melendez took the top spot on the podium for his performances in the 500 freestyle (4:44.82) and the 200 freestyle (1:43.00).  He then joined his teammates- Dan Nadeau, Diego Ferstler and Owen Guerini to qualify for this upcoming weekend's States in the 400 freestyle relay (3:38.17). Also competing for the Bulldogs was Sean Mitchell who will also take to the pool for the States this weekend.

It was the Girls turn on Sunday.  Tiffany Ha was the big highlight placing 8th in the 100 backstroke (1:01.96).  Ha will be joined by her teammates- Kim Frazier, Amanda Walsh, Julia Guerini and Emilee Mercuri at next weekend's States.

Boys Hockey back to winning ways- The Boys Hockey team played 3 games in 4 days this week and were only able to hit the practice ice once in the past 8 days. The lack of practice didn't seem to hurt the on-ice performance as the team downed Attleboro (8-2), OA (2-0) and NA (6-4).  Every Hock win is important but the key victory of the week came against OA as both the Bulldogs and the Tigers were vying for the top spot in the Davenport Division of the league. Matt Lazaro and Brian Hagan each found the back of the OA net in the win that put the Davenport title race edge to the Bulldogs.  The wins also helped propel the Bulldogs into the State Tournament where they will certainly be a force to be reckoned with.

Girls Hockey knocks off another State Champ-  Less than a week after defeating the defending D1 State Champion Duxbury Dragons, the Bulldogs pulled off the amazing feat of defeating the defending D2 State Champion Westwood Wolverines- 4-0. It's not often that high school teams even get to play against two defending State Champs in a season, let alone beating them.  The win also catapulted the squad into the state tournament.  The team has also moved up the in the most recent Boston Globe Top 20 poll.

Girls Basketball end Hockomock skid- Girls basketball ended a 35 game Hockomock League losing streak spanning 3 seasons by avenging an earlier season 6 point lost to Stoughton on Friday.  The Bulldogs have shown the enormous growth this year with a decisive 75-39 victory, scoring the second most points by any team in the league throughout the entire season this year.  Gabby Kenefick lead the team with 14pts, Eileen Khoury had 10 rebounds and Shannon Foley added 8 steals and held Stoughton's leading scorer to 3 pts.  The Bulldogs have 4 games in 4 days this week including "Think Pink" night on Thursday at home vs. Taunton and Senior Night, on Friday at home vs. Sharon.

Silver Lining for Boys Basketball- Wins have not come easily of late for the Boys Basketball team but there's nothing quite like buzzer-beaters from beyond half-court to lift Bulldog spirits- click here to see Joe Peccia's remarkable shot at Stoughton on Friday night.
