The Week in Review- 11/4/13-11/10/13

Cheerleaders Advance to Regionals- A season high score at Sunday's Hock Championships qualified the CHS Fall Cheerleaders for the Regionals. The fine performance in the Hocks was the icing on the cake in a season full of great performances at recent invitationals. The team has achieved all of these accolades while finding the time to cheer on the Football team all season in between their busy routine training.

Volleyball- Sectional Finalists once again- Wins at CHS on Tuesday and Thursday over Marlboro and Hopkinton advanced the Volleyball team to the D2 Central Sectional Final for the 2nd straight season. The top seeded Bulldog headed to Hudson on Saturday to face #2 seeded Westboro in the final, looking to defend the championship they won in 2012. Unfortunately, the team was edged by the Rangers, 3-1, and would have to settle for the title of sectional finalist- not too shabby!

The early week matches were phenomenal examples of how teamwork leads to success as coach Cawley called upon many different team members in the victories- 3-0 over Marlboro and 3-1 over Hopkinton. The Hopkinton match showed incredible mental toughness as the Bulldogs were involved in 4 very tight games, three of which they won by the score of 27-25. Check out the video below of the final point of the huge semi-final victory. Great excitement in the Dog Pound too!

Football makes it two in a row- Friday night saw the football team travel to Coyle Cassiday High School and come home with a 38-14 victory- the team's 2nd in as many games. The 'dogs had to play catch up as Coyle struck first just 21 seconds into the game on a 71 yard touchdown. But it was all Bulldogs after that. The game featured a tremendous performance by the Canton defense. Offensively, Derrick Harris, Kevin Wing, Sterling Garvin, and Matt Bagley all found the Coyle end zone for the 'dogs.

The win improves the team's post-season record to 2-0 with two games to play- at Dedham next Saturday at 1:00pm and on Thanksgiving at CHS vs. Stoughton at 10:00am.

XC runners excel at Sectional Meet- Members of the Boys XC team ran some of their best races of the season at the Sectional meet at Wrentham on Saturday. Each member of the Boys team finished in under 19:45- an impressive team performance.  The Girls ran exceptionally well as well. Cat Song and Amanda Eagles finished in the top 30 and the team finished 11th out of 22 teams. Song's time was good enough to qualify her for next weekend's state meet.
