Hello Bulldog Nation. With one week of CHS Athletics in the books, it's a good time to remind everyone of some key protocols and practices to help us all avoid troubles!
1. Don't forget to get a Doctor's note!!!! So if a Bulldog athlete goes to visit a health care professional for an injury sustained at a practice or contest, the student athlete MUST get a note from that professional, laying out a return to play. That means that even if the doctor says you are "good to go," you are not, until we have a note from that doctor stating so. Basically- ALWAYS get a note from a doctor as to your status and be sure to get it to trainer Kristen prior to your next practice/contest.
2. You must be in school for AT LEAST the final 5 periods of the day in order to be able to participate in CHS Athletics after school that day. A doctor's appointment (or other appointments of similar importance) are excused as long as a note is provided from the health care professional to the main office. A student who leaves school for a period or two because he/she wasn't feeling well is NOT eligible to return for athletics that day. Remember- school comes first!
3. It is CHS policy that all student athletes be transported to/from away contests out of town by bus/van transportation provided by CHS. Last year, this policy was suspended but it has been reinstitute for this school year. This means that if a student athlete is going to be driven to/from an away event by a parent or other family member, an email must be sent PRIOR to the contest to both the coach and AD stating that is happening. Thank you for helping us navigate a return to this policy.
4. SAVE the DATE- Another blog entry will provide much more detail, but please save the date of Tuesday evening, September 14th at 7:00pm for an important presentation at the CHS stadium field (the turf). The evening will feature Dr. Greg Dale from Duke University. Keep an eye out for more info soon!
Go Dogs!
