Unified Track Team ready to kick-off inaugural season

The Canton High School Athletic Department and the CHS Student Services Department are happy to announce the formation of a Unified Track and Field Team for the 2016 Spring Season.

Special Olympics Project Unify is an education-based project, funded by the US Dept. of Education, that uses the sports and education programs of Special Olympics to activate young people across the US. In order to promote school communities where all young people are agents of change- fostering respect, dignity and advocacy for people with disabilities.  Canton High School and Special Olympics believe that through sports young people can make a difference in friendships, schools and communities.

The Unified Track and Field program will begin the week of Monday, March 28th. There will be 1-2 practices each week with approximately 3-4 meets. The team will ultimately be made up of both student with and without disabilities.  Our hope is to continue to strengthen our inclusive community and help develop new friendships and meaningful learning experiences for all students.

Any student interested in joining the Unified Track and Field Team, should have his/her parent register them online by visiting the CHS Athletics Website.
