Coach Sandy Lombardi |
The Canton High School Athletic Department is thrilled to announce the hiring of Sandy Lombardi as our new Varsity Softball Coach. Lombardi takes the reigns from long-time CHS Wellness teacher David Bohane, who was at the helm of the Bulldog Softball program from 2019-2021.
Lombardi comes to CHS after a very successful coaching career to this point. Over the past two decades-plus, she has been the head softball coach at Massasoit Community College, Whitman-Hanson Regional High School and Duxbury High School- all of which saw her teams have great runs of success. Her high school coaching has not been limited to softball either. She has coached basketball at Rockland High School, East Bridgewater High School and Cardinal Spellman High School over the years and is currently the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Sharon High School.
We are very fortunate to have someone with Sandy's coaching experience and passion for the sport of softball, taking over our program. It's no secret that this program has struggled for consistency over the years and that is something that I am confident Sandy will bring. We are very excited about this newest member of our CHS coaching family.
Coach Lombardi had this to say about her appointment to the Bulldog coaching position-
"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to coach Varsity Softball at Canton. As members of the Hockomock League, I am aware of the tough competition we will face. I look forward to challenging the girls in the program to strive to be both competitive and successful."
We wish both Coach Lombardi and the Bulldog Softball program, the best of luck this spring!
