Is it kind? Is it honest? Does it improve the situation?

Over 600 CHS student athletes and parents attended our 2017 Bulldog Athletics Kick-Off Presentation on Tuesday night, September 12th.  The night included some important information regarding the athletic department, an appeal from the CHS Booster Club to become a member, a powerful message from our guest speaker and a challenge from our principal.

The highlight of the evening was a 30-minute story shared by our guest speaker- Aaron Polansky.  Polansky's message to our student athletes was clear- you are powerful and have the ability to make the CHS community a better place.  Beyond his emotional story, he provided a clear and strong set of three questions that he suggested we use to make our daily decisions---- 1. Is it kind?  2. Is it honest?  3. Will it improve the situation?  Three simple questions that can help us all make our school a better place.  Polansky clearly made a huge impact on much of the audience.  In an effort to "make it stick," Polansky kindly left a banner with these questions on them that will be displayed proudly at the CHS entrance. CHS principal, Derek Folan followed up Polansky with a challenge to all of our student athletes. He challenged the hundreds of CHS student athletes to take their role in strengthening school culture seriously.  He praised all of their hard work and asked them to spread that Championship Mindset throughout the school.

The evening ended with a very special message from Mike Smith- from the HarborTV.  Smith visited CHS last December where he made a HUGE impact on the student body.  Last winter, his message of kindness and inclusiveness was powerful and impactful. (See blog entry about his last visit).

Click here for a short video message that Mike taped to close our presentation on Tuesday.  It is a challenge to CHS student athletes, captains and parents as they head into the 2017-18 school year.

Go Bulldogs.
