In the second high school game played last night at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, the Girls Varsity soccer team came up with a huge win against Mansfield. They beat the second place team in the Kelley-Rex division 2-1 on goals from Hannah Link and Sarah Connolly. Link, a junior, scored early on in the first half, while the Bulldogs dominated control of the ball for the first 40 minutes.The second half game was more even, despite a penalty kick goal by sophomore Sarah Connolly . Canton gave up a goal late in the second half, but was able to hold on for a strong, bounce-back victory after a loss to Attleboro on Monday Night. They remain atop the Davenport Division with a record of 6-2 and 12 points.
In between halves, the JV teams from the two schools scrimmaged for 15 minutes. The JV Girls Bulldogs fell short 1-0, but played a tight game.
