Cerruti joins exclusive 1,000 point club

Cerrutti and her family in the moments
after hitting the 1,000th.
It has only been done seven times in CHS history but tonight now makes it eight.  CHS senior Kiara Cerruti scored 9 points in tonight's 57-52 win over Attleboro surpassing the 1,000 point mark in her Bulldog career.

Cerruti came into tonight's game needing to score just one point to hit the 1,000 point mark. The milestone making shot came from the foul line when she converted the free throw with 3:26 remaining in the 1st quarter.  She now stands at 1,008 career points.

Cerruti has been a huge part of the CHS Girls Basketball program since walking into CHS.  A four-year starter she has been critical to the program's resurgence and return to Hockomock League success.  This season, she is averaging 18.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Everyone in the Hock knows that she is one of the best shooters in the league.

Coach Jimmy Choquette had this to say upon the achievement-
Looks like we need a
new banner!
"I think Kiara scoring 1,000 point represents consistency and determination to continuously improve.  She is more than just a scorer.  She has worked on improving every aspect of her game during her time here. This is an achievement that we are all very proud of."

Cerruti becomes only the 2nd female Bulldog basketball player in the school's history to join the 1,000 point club. Currently, Eileen Morneau (class of 1996) holds the all-time scoring record in the program's history.   With at least seven games remaining, that mark set by Morneau in 1996 is very much in danger of falling.  Even more impressive is the fact that Cerruti's junior year was significantly Covid-shortened- playing roughly 40% fewer games than it a typical season.

Congratulations to Kiara!
